The Nations Initiative
Strengthening the Church. Advancing the Gospel. To the Ends of the Earth.
One Mission.
Two Ministries.
Bethlehem Christian Academy and The Nations Initiative share more than a partnership—they share a story.
In many ways, The Nations Initiative was born out of Bethlehem Christian Academy.
In the early years, Bethlehem Christian Academy sought to meet every need it encountered. Along with providing Christian education for orphaned and impoverished children, our ministry was also involved in pastoral training, church development, ministry partnerships, construction projects for churches, discipleship, and community outreach.
As the ministry continued to grow, it became clear that the work had expanded beyond what a single organization could effectively manage. Rather than reducing our impact, we chose to strengthen it.
That decision led to the formation of The Nations Initiative, allowing each organization to focus on its specific calling while continuing to work side by side in the communities we serve.
Today, Bethlehem Christian Academy remains committed to sharing the hope of Jesus Christ through Gospel-centered Christian education, while The Nations Initiative exists to strengthen the global Church by investing in indigenous leaders and equipping them for the work of faithful, sustained ministry in their own contexts.
Through partnerships with local churches, missionaries, and national leaders, TNI trains pastors, supports Christian education, translates Gospel resources, facilitates the construction of churches and biblical education centers, and helps establish strong local ministries and church networks all across Africa.
Although our ministries now have distinct roles, our mission remains the same: making disciples and strengthening the local church.
One of our greatest hopes is that the students who graduate from Bethlehem Christian Academy will not simply leave with an education, but with a desire to serve Christ and use their lives to advance the Gospel.
When God places a calling on a student’s life, The Nations Initiative helps provide the next step by offering opportunities for mentorship, pastoral training, ministry development, and theological education.
Gift’s story beautifully illustrates this vision.
As the very first sponsored child at Bethlehem Christian Academy, Gift grew up within a Christ-centered educational environment, placed his faith in Jesus Christ as a teenager, and graduated in 2025. Later that same year, he attended a TNI Pastors Conference as he continued pursuing God’s call on his life.
Today, his desire is to become a church planter.
His story demonstrates the full picture of what this partnership was designed to accomplish: introducing children to Jesus, discipling them through Christian education, connecting them to the local church, and equipping them to become future leaders who will carry the Gospel into their own communities.
What began as one ministry has grown into two organizations working together toward one purpose: raising up the next generation of disciples and advancing the Gospel around the world.
Gift’s Story
From Tragedy to Hope
Two years before Bethlehem Christian Academy welcomed its first students, it existed only as a vision: a vision that children living in poverty could experience both a quality Christian education and the transforming hope of the Gospel.
One of those children was Gift.
Gift’s story began in unimaginable tragedy. Before he ever took his first breath, both of his parents lost their lives on the very same day. His mother was nine months pregnant when she was struck by a vehicle while traveling near her village. Although she did not survive, those nearby were able to deliver her baby into the world.
Later that same day, after learning what had happened, Gift’s father was also killed in a separate car accident while traveling to find his family.
Orphaned on the day he was born, Gift was raised by his grandmother in extreme poverty. When our team first met him in 2010, he was severely malnourished and in desperate need of care.
At that time, Bethlehem Christian Academy had not yet opened its doors. There were no classrooms, no teachers, and no sponsors. There was only a vision.
When our founder returned home and began sharing stories from Zambia, one person was especially moved by Gift’s story and committed to sponsoring him. That act of generosity made Gift the very first child to be sponsored through Bethlehem Christian Academy, even before the school officially launched.
When BCA officially opened in 2011, Gift was there on the very first day.
Over the years, Gift experienced even more loss. After the death of his grandmother, he moved in with his aunt, where he continues to live today. Yet through every hardship, God remained faithful.
At 14 years old, Gift placed his faith in Jesus Christ. The little boy who once faced a future marked by poverty and loss discovered a new identity and a new purpose through the Gospel.
In 2025, Gift graduated from Bethlehem Christian Academy, marking an incredible milestone in a journey that began with unimaginable hardship. Later that same year, he attended The Nations Initiative’s pastors conference, where he continued to grow in his faith and calling.
Today, Gift is an active member of his local church and desires to become a church planter so he can share the hope of Jesus with others. As an organization, we have remained committed to walking alongside him, encouraging and investing in the calling God has placed on his life.
Gift’s story is a powerful reminder that child sponsorship is about so much more than meeting physical needs. It’s about introducing children to Jesus, surrounding them with a Christ-centered community, and creating opportunities that can transform the trajectory of an entire life.
Today, you can help write the next chapter of a child’s story.
One child. One sponsor. Eternal impact.
